# Create events

Events are live video, live voice, and in-person interviews you create to allow candidates and participants to self-schedule time slots that work for them. With events, you can request participants provide their availability, and then have candidates select and schedule their interviews on their own time, without recruiter intervention.

## Before you begin

Before creating an event in Hirevue, you must have an existing job you want to attach to the event. You can create a new job or you can clone an already existing job. For information on creating a job, see [Create jobs](/doc/568f060c-57c4-45c6-9dbd-7782d1f5258a).

## Create or clone events

When you create or clone an event, any user with the appropriate permissions and group access can view or edit the new event, or perform actions associated with the event.

**Note**: When you clone an event, the new event inherits the placeholders, participants, and scheduling from the original event. Therefore, when selecting an event to clone, select one that only has information on the What tab populated. If you must select an event with additional information, make sure to remove placeholders and participant information before configuring the new event.

To create or clone events

1.  On the main HireVue menu, click **Events**.
2.  If you want to...
    -   Clone an existing event and then edit it to fit your needs, then take the following actions:
        1.  On the _**Events**_ page, select the event that you want to clone.
        2.         3.  On the _**Clone Event**_ confirmation pop-up window, click **Yes**. The Event edit pages appear, divided into four tabs: What, Who, When, and Review.
    -   Create a new event from scratch, then on the _**Event**_ page, click **Create Event**. The Event edit pages appear, divided into four tabs: What, Who, When, and Review.
3.  Click the following links to configure the options within each tab:
    -   What: Create event and define general information about the event.
    -   Who: Identify the participants you want to include in the event.
    -   When: Specify the availability of the participants or request they provide their availability on their HireVue calendar.
    -   Review: Review event details and invite candidates to the event.
4.  You have finished creating your event, but can return at any time to update or edit the event.
