# Candidates page

The **Candidates** page is the central place to access and manage candidates in your account. From this page, you can view candidate records, add candidates, request interviews, filter/sort the list, and archive or unarchive candidates.

To access the Candidates page, click **Candidates** on the main Hirevue menu.

## Quick start: manage your candidate list

1. From the main dashboard, select **Candidates** in the top navigation bar.
2. By default, the page shows **active (unarchived)** candidates.
3. Use the column filters to find specific candidates, or use the action menu to perform tasks like archiving.
4. To switch between active and inactive candidates, open the **action menu** (three-dot menu) and select **View Archived** or **View Unarchived**.

## Candidate list basics

When you open the Candidates page, a grid displays a list of candidates you have permission to view. Common columns include the candidate’s name, email address, assigned recruiter, phone number, and the date they were added (columns can vary by configuration).

If the list spans multiple pages, use the pagination controls at the bottom of the grid:

* Use the **next** and **previous** arrows to move between pages.
* To jump to a specific page, enter the page number in the page field and press **Enter**.

The following image displays the Candidates page, and highlights areas of the page where you can perform actions.

### 1 - Add a new candidate manually

Opens the New Candidate page, where you can manually [add candidates to Hirevue](/articles/65c832c1-2bbb-4561-a0a7-4c3892b2aa29). Candidates added to Hirevue in this way are not associated with an interview stage; rather they must be manually added to the stage. To simultaneously add a candidate to Hirevue and an interview stage, see [Add candidates to a stage](/articles/0d51c91b-2004-4282-b820-416ad6b69149).

### 2 - Request interviews for selected candidates

If you need to add a new candidate to a specific job, you can also add candidates directly from the job’s page.

Request that candidates complete on-demand or live interviews. Select a candidate and then click any of the following options:

* **Request on-demand**: Opens a drop-down menu, where you can request that candidates complete an on-demand video, voice, or text interview.

**Note**: When requesting an on-demand interview, you will only be able to see and select jobs for which an on-demand interview stage exists. For more information, see [Add stages to a job](/articles/f6009fa1-9ef0-4880-ae6c-3a0d4a1e54d4).
* **Schedule Live**: Lets you schedule a live interview with the candidate and participants. When you select this option, a pop-up window appears where you can define the stage type, job, and job stage that you want to use.
* **Request Live**: Opens a window where you can add the candidate to an existing event, or create a new event. When creating a new event, you can specify the interviewers' availability and request that the candidate self-schedule the interview. For more information, see [Events](/articles/c60401ed-167c-4023-97e0-fcf1fc1872a1).

### 3 - Use the action menu to perform additional tasks with candidates and the Candidates grid

Lets you perform any of the following actions :

* **Import Candidates**: Open a window where you can create candidate profiles by importing a spreadsheet that contains required and optional information about candidates.
* **Create Meeting**: Opens the Create Meeting page, where you can schedule a Hirevue meeting. Each person scheduled to participate in the meeting will receive a calendar invitation that includes the meeting details, as well as a link to access their meeting foyer.
* **Send Message**: Opens a window where you can create an email message to send to the candidate. When you send a message using this feature, the candidate receives an email from a system (no-reply) address. However, the candidate can click a link within the email to send you an email directly. To view messages that you send using this feature, click the header menu, open your profile (your name) and then click **Messages**.
* **Tag Candidate**: Opens a text entry window where you can add key words to the candidate that you can later search on. For example, you can attach specific skills or experience to candidates, and then later search for candidates with those skills.
* **Reassign Recruiter**: Opens a window where you can select a new recruiter to assign to the selected candidate.
* **Archive/Unarchive**: Lets you archive active candidates, or unarchive candidates that were previously archived. If you are viewing:
  * **Unarchived** candidates, then the *Archive* option is visible, allowing you to archive selected candidates.
  * **Archived** candidates, then the *Unarchive* option is visible, allowing you to add archived candidates back to the Candidate page.
* **View Archived/View Unarchived**: Displays candidates that have been archived or unarchived. If you are viewing:
  * **Archived** candidates, then the *View Unarchived* option is visible, allowing you to view all unarchived candidates.
  * **Unarchived** candidates, then the *View Archived* option is visible, allowing to view all archived candidates.
* **Refresh**: Refreshes the candidate page.
* **Export All Columns**: Exports data from all columns (visible and hidden) in the selected grid to a .csv file and downloads it to your computer.
* **Export Visible Columns**: Exports data from all visible columns in the selected grid to a .csv file and downloads it to your computer.
* **Edit Columns**: Opens a window where you can select additional columns to add to the data grid. To remove columns from the grid, click the down arrow in the upper right of each column, and then from the drop-down, select **Hide Column**.
* **Reset Columns**: Resets the displayed columns to default settings.

### 4 - Edit the candidate profile

Opens the candidate profile in edit mode, where you can add, change, or delete values for any of the available fields.

### 5 - Review the candidate and their interviews

Opens the candidate activity page, where you can view a snap shot of a candidate's stage activity in Hirevue, and perform actions related to the candidate's stages. For more information, see [Candidate activity](/articles/5ce6f491-9603-4e6f-92be-4931d0b3a0a2).

### 6 - Filter and sort candidate records

Lets you filter the records in the candidate grid by any value.

For example, if you type "S" in the Name filter field, the application displays all records where the candidate name contains an "S" (Mary **S**mith, **S**am **S**ample, John Mark**s**, etc.). If you type "Smi" in the Name filter field, the application displays all records where the candidate name contains the "Smi" string (Mary **Smi**th). In order for records to appear in the filter, the records must contain the exact string of letters and/or numbers typed into the filter field, in the order in which they are typed.

#### Filter the candidate list (step-by-step)

1. Open the candidate list (for example, go to the **Review** tab).
2. Locate the column you want to filter (for example, **Job Title** or **Name**).
3. Select the filter icon next to the column header.
4. In the filter input that appears under the header, type the value you want to match.

The candidate list refreshes to show only matching results. While the results load, a **Loading...** message may appear.

#### Clear a filter

To remove a filter and return to the full list, delete the text from the filter input field.

## Summary

The **Candidates** page is the hub for candidate management tasks. Use it to keep your candidate pool organized by filtering/sorting the grid and by archiving and unarchiving candidates as needed.
