Review candidate interviews
Review candidate interviews
When you review candidate interviews, you assess and rate on-demand and live candidate interviews using rating and review tools, and then use those ratings to prioritize or advance the most successful candidates.
Understand the evaluation form (focus areas, ratings, and navigation)
In many interview types, the review experience includes an evaluation form (sometimes shown as an interview guide) made up of questions or focus areas (for example, competencies such as Integrity or Teamwork).
-
For each focus area, review the description and the rating scale shown. Scales vary by configuration; for example, you may see labels such as Not Demonstrated through Exceeds Expectations, Poor/Fair/Exceptional, Qualified/Not Qualified, or a numeric scale.
- Example 5-point scale: 1 – Not Demonstrated through 5 – Exceeds Expectations.
-
Evaluation guides are often organized into sections such as Interview Overview, Welcome, Scheduling Discussion, and job-specific competencies (for example, Integrity, Teamwork, and Role Play). Section names vary by job and configuration.
-
Select the rating that best reflects the candidate’s performance (often using a radio button selection).
-
As you complete items, a checkmark may appear next to the focus area/section in the left-hand navigation to indicate it’s complete.
-
Move through the form using:
-
The left-hand navigation list (if enabled), and/or
-
Next/Next Question and Previous Question.
-
-
After all required focus areas are rated, you typically reach a final evaluation summary where you can submit your review or use Save & Finish Later to return later.

Find interviews that need review (Review/Reviews page)
Some Hirevue configurations provide a Review (or Reviews) page that lists candidate interviews assigned to you or needing review.
-
From the main dashboard, open Review (or Reviews) to see a list of candidates/interviews.
-
Review the candidate list. The list is typically displayed in a table with columns such as Candidate/Name, Job/Job Title, Type, Interview Date, and Rating (columns vary by configuration).
-
(Optional) Use filtering and sorting to find the right candidate faster.
-
Some tables let you filter under each column header.
-
Some tables let you sort by selecting a column header.
-
Example: sort by Question Score (if that column is available) to prioritize reviews.
-
-
Select a candidate’s name to open the interview details/summary page.
-
If shown, select Begin Review to start the evaluation.
-
Complete all required questions/sections, then submit your evaluation.
Switch between candidates while reviewing (candidate drop-down)

- On the candidate summary/review page, locate the drop-down at the top that shows the current candidate’s name.
- Select the drop-down to open the list of candidates.
- Select the candidate you want to review.
- The page refreshes to show the selected candidate’s summary so you can continue reviewing.

-
Troubleshoot submission errors (required sections incomplete)
If you see an error when submitting (for example, “Sorry, we are unable to submit your feedback”, “Complete all required reviews”, or similar wording), at least one question/competency section still needs a rating and/or required feedback.
-
Return to the review navigation/summary (often by selecting Interview). This opens the list of questions/sections, typically in a left-hand navigation panel.
-
In the list, locate any incomplete section.
- Depending on configuration, incomplete sections may be marked Review Required, may show red “required” indicators, and/or may be missing a checkmark.
-
Select the incomplete section to navigate directly to it.
-
Provide the missing rating and any required comments/fields.
-
Confirm the section now shows as complete (for example, it displays a checkmark instead of Review Required). If your configuration shows an overall score, it may update after the missing section is completed.
-
Return to Evaluating the candidate.
-
Select Submit Feedback again.
-
When the confirmation dialog appears, click Yes to finalize.
If you see an error such as “An unexpected error occurred,” re-check that all required sections are complete and try submitting again after a short wait (it may be a temporary system issue).
