# About on-demand interviews

On-demand interviews are self-paced interviews that candidates complete in their own time. There are three types of on-demand interviews:

### On-demand video interview

On-demand video interviews require that candidates complete the interview using their computer or mobile device.

When you configure questions for on-demand video interviews, you specify the question type you want to use (image, audio, text, or video) and then create the content for that question. For more information, see [On-demand video interview questions](/articles/180eb1a0-8e46-49bf-8ab5-7a256e592173).

### On-demand voice interview

On-demand voice interviews are audio interviews that candidates complete using their phone (mobile or land-line).

When you configure questions for on-demand voice interviews, you specify the type of question you want to use (audio or text), and then create the content for that question. All on-demand voice questions are required, which means candidates must reply to each question in order to move to the next. ### On-demand text interview

On-demand text interviews are recorded text interviews that candidates complete using text messaging functionality on their cell phone or their web browser, depending on your system configuration.

By default, candidates complete an on-demand text interview using their web browser. However, if your system is configured to allow both SMS and web interviews, then candidates who:

* Have a phone number in their candidate profile receive both a text message and an email, and then can choose to participate in an on-demand text interview using either their phone or a web browser.

* Do not have a phone number in their candidate profile receive an email invitation with a link to complete their interview via a web browser.

## Using on-demand interviews in jobs

When you create a job, you can add on-demand video, voice, and text interview stages to incorporate each interview type in your workflow.

Once you add an on-demand interview stage to a job, you can then configure options within that stage to customize the interview. To get started, see [Step 2: Define stages](https://recruiter-help.hirevue-app.com/en-us/articles/step-2-define-stages-OkQpLXtF1b).

When you're done customizing the interview stage, you can invite candidates to interviews directly from within the job. You can also review and forward completed or submitted candidate interviews from within the job flow.
